Goa government declares 3-day lockdown from Friday to Sunday

PANAJI: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday announced a three days lockdown and night curfew that will come into force tonight.
In view of rapid rise in Covid-19 cases, Sawant said the lock down has been announcement for Friday , Saturday and Sunday while the night curfew will be applicable from 8pm till 6am. The night curfew will be implemented till August 10.
On Tuesday, Goa recorded 170 new cases, highest rise witnessed since the pandemic.
The decision on lockdown was declared after the cabinet meeting.
Only movement of medical emergencies and employees working in night shifts will be allowed during night curfew. Those found defying curfew will be arrested, Sawant said.
A several ministers at a cabinet meeting had requested CM to announce lockdown for a longer period as cases have rapidly increased, a source said.
