NEW DELHI: A 24-year-old man slit his estranged wife's throat after a fight at her south-east Delhi home and fled leaving her for dead. However, despite having lost a lot of blood, the wife managed to dial her father for help and was eventually saved.
Police have arrested the man, Gyanendra Shukla, and booked him for attempted murder charges.
Neha, a transgender, had got married to Shukla in 2019. The couple initially lived in north Delhi's Timarpur. However, Neha moved out after differences cropped up between the couple. She was living at a rented accommodation in Amar Colony.
On July 11, police received two calls informing them about the attack on the woman in A-block. A team rushed there but found that the injured had been shifted to AIIMS Trauma Centre. She was unfit for statement so the cops spoke to her father who said her husband had attacked her. The cops conducted raids and nabbed Shukla. Shukla told the cops that a few months into marriage, he came to know about some alleged affairs of his wife and got furious.
