WBBSE West Bengal Madhyamik 10th Result 2020: The West Bengal Board of Secondary Examination (WBBSE) announced Madhyamik or Class 10 results on July 15. Students can now check their results on the websites — wbbse.org and wbresults.nic.in.

A total of 10,03,666 students appeared in the examination this year, out of whom 8,43,305 were successful. Hence, the state board recorded its highest ever pass percentage at 86.34% this year. Boys have outprerformed girls with 89.87 per cent. The pass percentage of girls is 83.48 per cent. Last year, the pass percentage was 86.07 per cent. East Midnapore topped among the districts in Bengal with a pass percentage of 96.59, followed by West Midnapore and the two 24 Parganas (North and South). The pass percentage in Kolkata stands at 91.07.

Aritra Pal from Memari in East Burdwan district clinched the first position in the state scoring 694 out of total 700 marks (99.14 per cent). Sayantan Garai from Bankura district and Abhik Das from East Burdwan district stood second with 693 marks. Scoring 690 out of 700, Soumya Pathak from Bankura district, Debasmita Mahapatra from East Midnapore district and Aritra Maity from North 24 Parganas district jointly secured the third position.

The marksheets of the candidates will be sent to the schools and camp offices and the students can collect them from July 22.

As per media reports, Unlike many state board exams, WBBSE class 10 exams were not disrupted by the Covid-19 pandemic and it was concluded on March 13. However, there was a delay in the declaration of the result due the Covid-19. The chief minister also confirmed that the results of the plus two exams or Uccha Madhyamik will be declared on July 17.

Once declared, students can check their results through the websites — wbbse.org and wbresults.nic.in. The WBSSE recorded its highest ever pass percentage after 86.07 per cent students were declared successful in 2019. Sougata Das from Mohammad Deshapran Vidyapith in East Midnapore district had then emerged as the leading scorer, fetching a record 694 out of 700 marks (99.94 per cent).

To pass the WBBSE exams, it is mandatory that students pass all subjects with a minimum of 25 per cent.

In May, West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee had said the board would take a call on deciding on the date of publication of results after normalcy is restored and lockdown is lifted.
