GURUGRAM: A 28-year-old interior designer has been found dead in DLF-3, hours before she was to leave the city and settle permanently in her hometown. Her family has alleged that a male friend killed her. An FIR has been filed against him for murder.
The woman has been identified as Rida Masroor Choudhary from UP’s Aligarh. Her body was found on the floor of her rented room in U-Block of DLF-3 early on Sunday morning.
Police have recovered a handwritten note. Her family has alleged that the handwriting doesn’t match Rida’s and said her friend, Habib alias Vivan, killed her and made it appear like a suicide to evade suspicion.
Rida’s sister Tarannum said, “Habib, who lives in Noida, had been harassing her for some time and subjected her to mental and physical torture.” Rida was planning to leave Gurugram on Sunday and settle in Aligarh.
Around 8.45pm on Saturday, Tarannum got a video call from Rida. “Rida was begging me to save her life. Suddenly, the call was disconnected. I called her several times but her mobile was switched off. I called my sister Sheema, who lives in Dwarka,” said Tarannum.
Sheema informed police, and a police team reached the flat in the early hours of Sunday. Police said Rida’s body was lying on the floor and a sari was hanging from the ceiling fan.
“The autopsy report said Rida died of suffocation and there were some bruises on her body. In cases of suicide, the body is generally not found lying on the floor,” a senior police officer said. An FIR was registered against Habib under Section 302 (murder) of IPC at DLF-3 police station on Sunday.
