Kanpur Police on late Monday night recovered a looted AK- 47 and an INSAS rifle, besides 37 catridges with the...Read MoreKANPUR: Kanpur Police on late Monday night recovered a looted AK- 47 and an INSAS rifle, besides 37 catridges with the arrest of one more accused, identified as Shashikant, of Bikru ambush where eight policemen were trapped and killed allegedly by gangster Vikas and his aides.
“Shashikant alias Sonu son of Prem Kumar, a native of Bikru village, one of the accused of Bikru massacre and who carried a reward of Rs 50,000, was arrested by SOG, Rail Bazar and Chaubeypur police from Mela Tiraha area in Chaubeypur town of the district at around 2.50 am,” informed ADG (Law & Order) Prashant Kumar while briefing media persons at Reserve Police Lines on Tuesday.
According to Kumar, the accused, who had confessed to his crime, given names of his other co-accused including gangster- Vikas Dubey, Amar Dubey, Atul Dubey, Prem Kumar, Prabhat Mishra, Bauwan, Heeru, Shivam, Ziledar, Ram Singh, Ramesh Chandra, Gopal Saini, Akhilesh Mishra, Vipul, Shyamu Bajpayi, Rajendra Mishra, Bal Govind and Daya Shankar. "They were involved in trapping and killing eight policemen including deputy superintendent of police Devendra Mishra besides looting firearms from policemen during a police raid at the house of Vikas on July 2 & 3 night," he said.
On the basis of tip-off provided by Shashikant, the police recovered a looted AK -47 and 17 catridges from slain gangster's house while an INSAS rifle and 20 catridges from his house. The police is in the process of registering a cases against him in this regard. "The police teams are now looking for 11 others absconding since the incident had occurred," said ADG further.
Gangster Vikas Dubey was killed by STF on Friday (July 10) morning while Dubey was trying to flee after the car carrying him from Ujjain overturned on the outskirts of the city.
