The Congress on Tuesday suspended former party spokesperson Sanjay Jha with immediate effect “for anti-party activities and breach of discipline”. The party’s Maharashtra unit made the announcement after party’s state president Balasaheb Thorat issued the suspension order.

Jha’s removal came on a day when he took to twitter to criticise the party action against Sachin Pilot. “For five years Sachin Pilot gave his blood, tears, toil and sweat for the Congress party between 2013-18. The Congress came back from a wretched 21 seats to 100. We just gave him a performance bonus. We are so meritocratic. We are so transparent,” he tweeted
Jha had earlier resigned as president of Maharashtra unit of All India Professionals Congress contending that “my political outspokenness conflicts with my official position”. In June, Congress dropped Jha as a spokesperson following a newspaper article he wrote that was critical of the party.
