File pic of Union minister Dr Jitendra Singh NEW DELHI: Union minister Dr Jitendra Singh and BJP’s national general secretary Ram Madhav have gone into self-quarantineafter Jammu & Kashmir BJP chief Ravinder Raina tested positive for Covid-19. All three of them had recently visited the Bandipora residence of former BJP district president Waseem Bari, who was gunned down by terrorists last week.
J&K BJP chief Ravinder Raina confirmed his Covid-19 positive status on Tuesday by tweeting, “I visited north Kashmir’s Bandipora area to take part in last rites of former BJP district president Waseem Bari, his father and brother, who were killed by terrorists last week. I remained there for five days and today I have light fever and got tested and it was positive but no other symptoms.” Raina has been referred to Narayana Hospital in Reasi district for treatment.
Following this, BJP general secretary Ram Madhav and Union minister Jitendra Singh too announced that they were self-isolating themselves.
Ram Madhav tweeted, “Am quarantining myself for few days since my colleague and BJP J&K president Ravinder Raina tested +ve for corona today as I was with him for 48 hours in Srinagar. I have tested corona –ve four times during my travels in last two weeks. Yet, taking precautions to ensure safety of me and others.”
Similarly, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh tweeted, “Have gone into self-quarantine with immediate effect from 4 pm today after receiving the news about corona +ve test of J&K BJP president, who had accompanied us from Srinagar to Bandipora on 12th July.”
Sources in Jammu BJP office said that Raina had not visited his office for over a week, so there was no necessity to sanitize the premises or to trace contacts.
