CHANDIGARH:
Haryana assembly speaker
Gian Chand Gupta on Tuesday imposed ban on inter-state and other study tours of MLAs and committees in the wake of Covid 19 situation.
Haryana assembly has 90 MLAs and most of them are are members of various house committees. In the past, the committees had been organising the study tours to other states.
``In fact, now, the situation does not allow to continue with such study tours. It's not just Haryana, most of the states have already barred such activities which involve inter-state movement. As of now, study tours stand barred till further orders," said Gupta.
Notably, study tours are part of the privileges of the members who are part of other committees. Political experts term the study tours as ways for MLAs to have paid tourism facilities.
Most recently, the assembly speaker had reconstituted the privileges committee with the fresh guidelines of bringing the ignorance of MLAs by officials at any level shall amount to disrespect and can be tried by the committee.
Recently, an ex DFSC has been put under committee’s scanner on the complaint by Gohana MLA Jagbir Malik
