On the other side, following a sudden spurt in the Covid-19 positive Ambala City sub-divisional magistrate Gauri Midha on Tuesday prohibited use of centralized air-conditioned in the city jurisdiction and also restricted the opening of city cloth market to remain open only for four days a week.
“With the recovery rate of 60.63%, the total tally of positive cases reached 658 in Ambala on Tuesday, out of which; 399 patients got discharged, six died and 253 are active cases”, said Dr Kuldeep.
“Out of 46 fresh positive cases reported on Tuesday, 13 are from Ambala City areas, 19 from Ambala Cantt, and 14 from Chourmastpur area”, said Dr Kuldeep.
“On Tuesday, a total of 156 tests were conducted with rapid antigen testing kits, out of which, seven people tested positive and so far, a total of 23,215 samples have been tested in Ambala”, he said.
“We are conducting intensive and random sampling in high-risk areas and a large number of samples were collected from a vegetable market in Ambala Cantt on Tuesday”, said Dr Kuldeep.
“Ambala Molecular Lab is working at full capacity and on Tuesday, a total of 1,169 samples were tested in this lab and so far, about 17,000 samples have been tested here”, added Dr Kuldeep.
Cloth Market timings restricted
Ambala City SDM Gauri on Tuesday issued orders of restricting timings of the city cloth market. The order states, “Old Cloth Market, Aggrasain Chowk Cloth Market, Shukal Kund Road, General Merchant Market (all small galis/markets included) shall remain closed on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday in a week. Pooja Wholesale Complex shall remain closed on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. The timings for all the above markets will be up to 7 pm only.”
Central air-conditioned prohibited in Ambala City
In another order, SDM Gauri stated, “Keeping in view large number of cases being reported in Ambala City it is hereby ordered that central ACs shall not be operated in the jurisdiction of Ambala City including shops, malls, showrooms, banquet halls, marriage halls, etc.” However, window and split ACs have been allowed to operate with some norms like setting the temperature between 24-30 degree, humidity between 40-70%, intake of fresh air, cross ventilation and use of air sanitization, etc.
