NAME: Iyonna Dinsmore

HOME: Fall River

SCHOOL/YEAR OF GRADUATION: Resiliency Preparatory Academy/2020

SPRING SPORT: Outdoor track and field

OTHER SPORTS: Indoor track and field

COLLEGE: Bridgewater State University

 

During the 2019-2020 indoor track and field season, Dinsmore, competing for Durfee High School, was among the bets shot putters in the state, she placed second at the state Division 1 meet and third at All State. She unloaded a personal best throw of 38 feet, 9.5 inches and was looking to beat that and perhaps break 40 feet this spring.

 

Herald News: Who is your favorite athlete, and why?

Iyonna Dinsmore: Sydney McLaughlin. She’s done so much at such a young age.

 

HN: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

ID: I see myself with a well-established career. I hope I’m happy with it.

 

HN: What has been your biggest moment as a high school athlete?

ID: Competing with my relay team at states.

 

HN: What has it been like losing your final high school sports season?

ID: Losing my last sport season was sad but also an opportunity for me to for me to set goals to stay in shape and get ready for college.

 

HN: What is your level of concern/fear over COVID-19?

ID: I would say very concerned because we ended school early and a lot of things got shut down.

 

HN: When not playing high school sports, how do you spend your spare time?

ID: When not playing high school sports I spend my time with my family and going on walks.

 

HN: What is your favorite subject in school and why?

ID: My favorite subject in school is math because I love solving problems.

 

HN: If you won a million dollars, what would be your first purchase?

ID: Helping my family.

 

HN: Tell us something most people don't know about you.

ID: Something most people don’t know about me is that I’m super shy.

HN: Favorite dinner meal?

ID: My favorite dinner meal is between a Greek salad or chicken and rice.

HN: Favorite dessert?

ID: Vanilla ice cream.

HN: How long could you function without your smart phone?

ID: I could probably go a week without my phone.

HN: Your favorite fast-food restaurant

ID: Chick-fil-A?

HN: Whom in this world would you most like to hit in the face with a pie?

ID: My aunt.
