In Bengaluru, a week-long lockdown will come into force from Tuesday night, with the government issuing guidelines and listing what's open and what's closed.

The state government on Sunday announced complete lockout in Bangalore urban and rural districts from 8 pm to 22 July 5 pm on July 14 as COVID-19 cases are increasing rapidly in the city.

Already scheduled flights and trains will continue to operate during the lockdown and people will have their tickets served as their passes.

Interstate movement of passenger vehicles is allowed only in emergencies. A valid pass will be required for the service Indus portal.

What is open?

During the lockdown, shops selling essential goods including milk, grocery, and vegetables in the city and its surrounding areas will be allowed to open from 5 am to 12 noon.

Home delivery of essentials will be allowed. This step has been taken to reduce the movement of people.

Secretariat offices in Vidhan Soudha and Vikas Soudha will operate with 50 percent strength.

Construction work can continue where workers are available on site.

Hospitals, medical shops will remain open.

Civil facilities offices like electricity, water, LPG supply will remain open.


What's off

According to the guidelines, public transport will be suspended during the lockdown, including buses, metros, and taxis hired for emergencies.

Hotels and restaurants can only work for remote or home delivery. Dine-in will not be allowed.

Most government offices will remain closed except those providing essential services. People working for permitted activities can use ID cards in their organization.

The sports complex, gym, and swimming pool will be closed.

Cinema halls and malls will remain closed.

Religious sites will not be open for worship.

The guidelines will apply to areas that are outside the containment zone.
