Benji back for Tigers but Brooks pays price for poor form as Maguire swings axe again

Michael Maguire has axed another of the Wests Tigers' high-profile stars, dumping out-of-sorts Luke Brooks before this week's clash against the Brisbane Broncos.

Brooks will be left out of the Tigers team named on Tuesday afternoon, despite the suspension of five-eighth Josh Reynolds for an accidental kick to the head of South Sydney's Campbell Graham.

Brooks has struggled for form in 2020 and was fortunate to be spared the axe when Maguire dumped Benji Marshall a month ago. The talented No.7, who finished runner-up in Dally M voting two years ago, will be left out of the team altogether as Billy Walters earns a recall to the side.

Walters will fill the No.6 jersey vacated by Reynolds' suspension, while Marshall will return to the starting line-up at halfback. It's the first time Brooks has been dropped in his career. He only has one try assist to his name in 2020.
