NITI Aayog Deputy Chairman Rajiv Kumar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's goal of "Self-reliant India" to meet the challenge of the COVID-19 epidemic does not mean creating a "lonely India".

He said that the country is supportive of the multilateral global economic system as the challenges faced by the epidemic can only be met with multilateral and global solidarity.

India presented the Secondary Voluntary National Review (VNR) on Sustainable Development Goals in a digital session of the High-Level Political Forum here on Monday. Presenting VNR on behalf of India, Kumar said that in combating the epidemic, the Indian government has adopted Modi's goal of "Self-reliant India".

In his address, Kumar said, "It does not at all mean that India is self-supporting or a lonely country. We are advocates of a multilateral global economic system whose potential should not be doubted. ”

Kumar was also present at the NITI Aayog with Advisor Samyukta Samadar during the presentation of VNR.

Kumar said that the Covid-19 epidemic has created a lot of challenges for all countries.
