Covid-19: UP tally crosses 38,000 mark with 1,664 cases

LUCKNOW: The UP Covid-19 tally crossed 38,000 mark with 1,664 new cases in the past 24 hours. This is the maximum number of cases in a single day. With new cases, the total reached 38,130, including 12,972 active infections. On national scale, 4.2% of the total cases in the country are from UP.
According to an official data, while Lucknow topped the day’s tally with 196 fresh cases, districts in Meerut division, including Ghaziabad (120), GautamBudh Nagar (90), Meerut (57), Bulandshahr (33), Hapur (21) and Baghpat (1) accounted for 322 cases.

Districts, which recorded over 40 cases, included Kanpur (83), Deoria (69), Varanasi (67), Moradabad (56), Prayagraj (48), Gorakhpur (47), Hardoi (47) ,Kushinagar (44) and Muzaffarnagar (41).
Health officials stated that 21 persons died of novel coronavirus infection in the 24 hours, taking the overall tally to 955.
According to an official bulletin, three deaths each were reported in Lucknow and Prayagraj, while Varanasi and Etah recorded two deaths each. Meerut,Sahranpur, Firozabad, Bareilly, Hardoi, Kannauj, Ballia, Jhansi, Mirzapur, Kushinagar and Sonbhadra reported one death each. The bulletin recorded 869 recoveries, taking the total number of discharged persons to 24,203.
Other districts with double digit entries included: Kaushami (37), Aligarh (30), Ballia (29), Bareilly (29), Jaunpur (23), Sant Kabir Nagar (22), Sambhal (20),Shahjahanpur (18), Sultanpur (16), Mathura (16), Mirzapur (14), Rampur (14), Chandauli (13), Unnao (13), Bijnore (13), Ayodhya (13), Saharanpur (13),Fatehpur (12), Maharajganj (12), Sonbhadra (11), Amroha (11), Azamgarh (11) and Firozabad (10).
Prasad said that people must avail the advantage of e-sanjivani portal – a web based medical consultation facility – started by the state government to help people.
