With a single-day increase of 28,498 cases, India's COVID-19 tally crossed the 9-lakh mark on Tuesday, just seven days after crossing the seven-lakh mark, according to health ministry data.
This was the eleventh consecutive day that COVID-19 cases in the country increased by more than 22,000.
According to data updated at 8 am, the death toll climbed to 23,727 with 553 people succumbing to the disease in 24 hours.
While the total coronavirus caseload surged to 9,06,752 on Tuesday, there were 3,11,565 active cases and 5,71,460 recoveries. The total number of confirmed cases include foreigners.
