Man wanted in cow slaughter cases held in UP's Aligarh

AGRA: Notorious criminal Mohd Navisher, who had a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, was arrested after an encounter with police in Aligarh on Monday night. Resident of Dariyapur village in Aligarh, Navisher was involved in several cases of cow slaughter in UP’s Aligarh and Bulandshahr districts.
Talking to TOI, civil lines circle officer Anil Samaniya said that two bike-borne youths were intercepted by a police team during routine vehicle checking at Pilona turn under Jawan police station. The duo broke the barrier and opened fire in a bid to escape.
In retaliatory firing, Navisher was injured while his accomplice managed to escape.
Police have recovered a country-made pistol, live cartridges and a motorbike. A manhunt has been launched to nab the absconding suspect.
