Village forests being developed in TelanganaHYDERABAD: Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, the Telangana State Forest Academy (TSFA) Dulapally, Hyderabad has begun to train the frontline staff of the forest department through online medium to create and develop natural afforestation. In all, 600 forest staff will be trained.
New afforestation concepts, like the Yadadri model of natural forest development will be taught to the forest staff so that it can be implemented during the Palle Prakriti Vanam to be taken up by all villages across the state.
The programmes on Yadadri model and Palle Prakriti Vanam (PPV) will provide technical knowledge for 20 members being trained in each district. Every day five districts are being covered. The participants include from the post of conservator of forest (CF) to Forest Beat Officer (FBO) rank officers.
Sobha PCCF, G Chandrashekar Reddy, Director General, CEFNARM and Director TSFA and VVN Prasad, Special commissioner RD, involved in the training process have circulated notes to the staff being trained on Whatsapp. As many as 300 staff have already been training through video conferencing. The participants are using videoconferencing from whichever location they have been posted at to attend the online classes.
“This is a new approach for mass capacity building and avoiding travel from work and using resources efficiently,” an official said.
