The decision was taken after the numbers showed an exponential rise. PCMC hopes to break the chain of the COVID-19 outbreak in the city with the current lockdown.

Pimpri: If you plan to move out of the house for morning exercise, walking or jogging, it is best to avoid as the parks will remain closed during the lockdown. Apart from that, restrictions will be enforced to hold any activity on its premises.

However, during lockdown 5.0, the public could move out of the house for jogging, exercise and walking, which was otherwise permitted. But during this lockdown, people will have to sit at their respective homes and are advised to not move out of their house at all.

In the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation area (PCMC) area, there are around 130 parks and walking plazas. The city's parks and gardens were closed from March, till June, during the lockdown. Individual exercises and walks were allowed in the park during lockdown 5.0. However, the senior citizens were denied permission to enter the parks.

The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shravan Hardikar, spoke to Sakal Times saying, "The decision is to close the parks again for lockdown 6.0. Individual exercise and jogging have will also not be permitted for the next ten days, at least considering the current COVID-19 spread."

Speaking to Sakal Times Dattatraya Gaikwad, superintendent of the PCMC Garden department was quoted saying, "The lockdown has tightened again the COVID-19 numbers were on a rise. So jogging from five to nine in the morning will not be allowed. We have informed the head of the park about and have instructed them to keep parks and gardens closed. These five days are crucial for all of us to break the chain. We appeal to citizens to not visit parks."
