BJP stage protest over death of MLA Debendra Nath Ray, calls 12-hr 'bandh' on July 14

Members and workers of the state unit of BJP staged protest over the death of BJP MLA Debendra Nath Ray. MLA was found hanging in Bindal near his village home. West Bengal BJP has called 12-hr 'bandh' in the districts of North Bengal tomorrow, over the incident. BJP's Central Observer for West Bengal, Kailash Vijayvargiya on the incident said, "We've demanded CBI probe. We'll meet Home Minister tomorrow. If President gives time, we'll let him know of the anarchy in West Bengal."

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and National vice president, Uma Bharti, on July 14, held Rahul Gandhi accountable for the political crisis in Rajasthan. BJP demands CBI inquiry in killing of West Bengal BJP MLA

While speaking to media in Kolkata on July 13, the National Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rahul Sinha spoke on death of BJP MLA Debendra Nath Ray. He said, "We demand Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into the killing of BJP MLA from Hemtabad, Debendra Nath Ray." "Trinamool Congress is behind this killing and has made it look like a suicide. I request West Bengal CM to order CBI inquiry to find the truth behind the killing," Rahul Sinha added.

Thoothukudi custodial death case: CBI team arrives in TN's Madurai

A team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officers arrived in Tamil Nadu's Madurai. They arrived at Madurai Airport on July 10. CBI will take over the probe in Thoothukudi custodial death case. The CBI had taken over the investigation on July 07 into the deaths of P Jeyraraj and his son J Benicks who died allegedly after being tortured in police custody in Tamil Nadu's Tuticorin. The Centre had issued a notification accepting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's request to transfer the probe to the CBI.

Delhi's COVID situation improved due to increased testing, working together: Kejriwal

Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal credited increased testing and working in unison for the betterment in COVID-19 situation in the capital. He said, "Positivity rate and death rate is coming down and recovery rate has increased rapidly but people should not be complacent. You never know, COVID-19 may surge again. Right now, taking precautions are the biggest weapon. Use of masks, sanitisers and washing hands is very important. Increased testing and working in unison is to credit for the betterment in situation." Although Delhi has over 1 lakh confirmed cases of coronavirus, its active infections stands just above 19,000.

CM Kejriwal inaugurates Delhi's 2nd Plasma Bank at LNJP Hospital

Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated 2nd Plasma Bank at Lok Nayak Hospital on July 14 in view of COVID-19 outbreak. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was also present. An apheresis machine has been setup in the hospital which is used to separate the blood components. He said, "We have started Delhi's second Plasma Bank at LNJP Hospital today. Delhi is the first state where we have started country's very first Plasma Bank at Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences. It will help to save more lives."

BJP MLA found hanging in West Bengal, police recovers suicide note

A Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Debendra Nath Roy was found hanging one kilometer away from his house near a tea stall in Dinajpur district. Local residents spotted him hanging and called the police immediately. A suicide note has been recovered from his pocket in which 3 persons have been named responsible for his death. Raiganj SP Sumit Kumar said, "Today, body of MLA Hemtabad, Debendra Nath Roy was found hanging in Balia, Uttar Dinajpur. A suicide note has been recovered from his pocket in which 3 persons have been named as responsible for his death. Further investigation is underway."
