Final-year university exams: NSUI, ABVP in war of words
Haryana units of National Students Union of India (NSUI) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) have joined a war of words over the UGC exam guidelines.

CHANDIGARH: In the wake of University Grants Commission (UGC) issuing guidelines to conduct final-year university examinations, the Haryana units of National Students Union of India (NSUI) and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) have joined a war of words over the issue.
Haryana NSUI president Divyanshu Budhiraja has flayed ABVP for maintaining silence over the issue of examinations as advised by the UGC, especially after the announcement of cancellation of examinations by the Haryana government as well as the universities. “In a bid to have political vendetta, the ABVP is trying to justify the stand taken by the various authorities. Today the question is not of politics but of crores of lives,’’ wrote Budhiraja in his Twitter handle.
Purnoor, member of state executive of Haryana ABVP, said, “Whether coming from an individual or at the level of organisation, we have decided to be non-reactive to such statements. Secondly, so far as issues related to examinations are concerned, we strongly support the safety and security of students. We shall oppose only if the universities and the authorities do not assure the same.” tnnNotably, following protests and court cases by NSUI, the Haryana government had announced not to conduct the examination of all graduate and undergraduate courses of general and technical streams in colleges. The higher education department had released a policy for evaluation of students, especially of the terminal classes.
Now, medical exams opposed
NSUI has now opposed the examination of medical courses in various health universities and medical colleges of the state. The NSUI members had recently met the Rohtak deputy commissioner, seeking cancellation of examinations which are to be conducted by Pt B D University of Health Sciences.
