Gujarat records 902 new Covid cases, 10 deaths in 24 hours

AHMEDABAD: After four days of 800-plus daily Covid-19 cases, Gujarat for the first time breached 900-mark with 902 cases in 24 hours ending 5pm on Monday, while also recording deaths of 10 positive patients in this period. Gujarat has so far recorded 42,808 total cases and 2,057 deaths.
Surat, for the 10th consecutive day, recorded the highest tally with 287, followed by 164 from Ahmedabad, 74 from Vadodara and 46 from Junagadh. The deaths included five from Surat, three from Ahmedabad, and one each from Gandhinagar and Morbi.
With the update on Monday, the state now has 10,945 active cases, which is 25.6% of total cases. The share of discharged and deceased patients in Gujarat now is 69.6% and 4.8% respectively.
As on Monday, Ahmedabad district has 23,259 total cases and 1,522 deaths. Surat crossed 8,000 total cases with 8,115 on Monday and 219 total deaths. Vadodara has 3,126 cases and 51 deaths. Vadodara has not recorded the death of a patient in 10 days. While the overall share of the three districts in total cases is 80.6%, on Monday, the three districts accounted for 58.2% of the daily cases.
The state recorded discharge of 608 patients in 24 hours, taking the total to 29,806. The discharges include 186 from Surat, 125 from Ahmedabad, 102 from Vadodara and 48 from Junagadh.
Gujarat conducted 5,619 tests to find new Covid-19 positive cases in 24 hours, taking the total to 4.7 lakh. As on Monday evening, Gujarat has 3.32 lakh persons under quarantine, out of which 3.29 lakh are under home quarantine.
