AMBALA: Haryana would be soon starting Dial-112 emergency services number to receive distress calls, said state home, health and urban local bodies minister Anil Vij recently at his residence in Ambala. The three emergency services including police, fire, and ambulance will be linked to this single number only, he said.
Vij said, “We are working to make the Haryana Police high-tech and implement Dial-112 emergency service in the state soon. The police and concerned departments are working to implement the development in the state and the same will be launched soon.”
Vij said Dial-112 is an online high-tech system and it will ensure that the police reach the spot within 15 minutes in the state in case of any distress call.
Haryana Police DIG (Administration) with an additional charge of Haryana Dial 112 Project, Satender Kumar Gupta said, "A separate building has been developed at Sector 3, Panchkula and the final works are ongoing at full speed. The centre for development of advanced computing (CDAC) an entity of the Union ministry of electronics and information technology is assigned the task to install the required systems and some works are pending which will be completed very soon.”
As per the information gathered from Haryana Police headquarters in Panchkula, a total of 630 cars will be dedicated to the Dial-112 service after its launch in the first phase.
“These 630 cars will particularly function for Dial-112 services only. After the launch, we are keeping a target with a maximum time limit to reach a spot of a distress call within 15 minutes in urban areas and 20 minutes in the rural areas of the state. Dial-100 will be converted to Dial-112 and police, fire and ambulance services will be attached to it”, said DSP information technology (IT) at Haryana Police Headquarters Hissam Singh.
“After completion of the building, the work order for installing information technology systems was given to CDAC on February 3, 2020, and as per norms the advance payments are also made in February end. It was expected to complete within three months by starting of June at Sector 3, Panchkula but got delayed due to Covid-19 outbreak. The CDAC has given a revised deadline of finishing work by August end. We are expecting that it may take September month too as the situation due to Covid-19 is still not improving and the companies are not allowing the employees to go out in the field”, added DSP Hissam.
When asked whether the Dial-112 service will be launched statewide in one go, DSP Hissam said, “Yes, the service will be launched statewide in one go as it is a well-tested solution and the CDAC after launching has already implemented the system in many states like Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Chandigarh and others.”
