Buses likely to start after Ganeshotsav in Pune

PMPML officials said resuming services at present was not a good idea because of the increasing Covid-19 cases
PUNE: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited services in Pune are expected to resume only after the Ganeshotsav.
“We had a meeting with the district officials, who said the Covid-19 cases were increasing and the Ganeshotsav was also approaching, so resuming operations in Pune was not a good idea. The services can start by September-end after assessing the situation then,” Shankar Pawar, the director of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), told TOI.
The PMPML’s chairperson and managing director Nayana Gunde said the services in Pune would not start immediately.
“Services may resume in August, but we are not sure about it,” she said.
A source in the PMPML said the services in the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) limits would would not continue during the 10-day total lockdown starting from Monday. The buses would operate only for essential service providers.
Around 80 buses were operating on 30 routes in the PCMC jurisdiction.
