Prior to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), cities were already under intense pressure to work smarter. From private vehicle emissions to public transport efficiency and building power-usage: all must be addressed, and connectivity will prove a key tool. COVID-19 makes smart-city development all the more urgent: data-gathering and optimisation of public services will be vital in both containing further outbreaks, and tracking the sources of said outbreaks….
