Teachers prepare for results week under lockdown

Nagpur: This week will mark the beginning of major board exam results coming in, with CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) all set to be first off the mark.
Source in the central board told TOI that Std XII results are expected to be released either on or before July 15. There is also a possibility of state board’s HSC results also being declared this week, though this could not be independently confirmed. Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) declared its results recently, but in Nagpur that board has a negligible presence.
For schools, this will be a unique experience and a challenge too as the lockdown and restriction on movement is still in place.
Every year, students would swarm the school premises on result day and celebratory mode would engulf everyone. Shilpee Ganguly, principal of Centre Point School (Katol Road), said this time the campus will wear a deserted look. “I have already given instructions that no students are to be allowed inside the premises. We have to function strictly as per government’s orders and that’s why only teachers will be present on the result day,” said Ganguly. Teachers will work for result tabulation adhering to Covid-distancing norms, she added.
Principal of another CBSE school, who did not wish to be named citing management policy, said this would be the quietest results day. “The school is like a body, and students are the heartbeat. We will be without heartbeat when result day comes this time around,” she said. The principal added that for Std X students, the results will be very competitive as they appeared for all papers. “In Std XII, exam for business studies in commerce and computer science in science could not be held,” she added. For the papers in which no exams were held, CBSE will calculate marks based on an already announced formula.
