TIVERTON — The acting chief of the Tiverton Fire Department said it was “non-stop” on Sunday.

Two of the 18 calls that day were for a motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a capsized boat.

The Tiverton Fire Department responded to Crandall Road shortly after 3 p.m. for a two-vehicle crash. Two people were transported to hospitals, Captain Bruce Reimels told The Daily News on Monday.

One person was transported to Rhode Island Hospital by a Portsmouth rescue wagon. The Tiverton Fire Department transported one patient to Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Those two people were on the motorcycle when the crash occurred.

“I don’t believe [their injuries] were life-threatening,” Reimels said.

The Tiverton Fire Department dispatched an engine vehicle, a car and a rescue wagon to the scene.

Reimels said he did not know the cause of the crash

Just before the Tiverton Fire Department responded to the motor vehicle crash, they got a call for a capsized boat in the area of Grinnell’s Beach.

Six people and a dog ended up in the water, Reimels said. No one was transported to the hospital.

Reimels said he did not know why the boat capsized. His department handled a “couple boat calls...water rescues [and] I believe we had three or four accidents yesterday.”

“Generally an extremely busy day for the guys,” he added.
