Ambedkar University Admission 2020: Five new courses from this academic session

NEW DELHI: Ambedkar University Delhi has announced five new courses for the next semester, including an MPhil course in Disability studies; and will be increasing its student intake to over 1800. Launching their admission brochure on Saturday, the university stated that they will announce their admissions soon and that they would start their next semester for their previous batches from August 1.
Stating that there is uncertainty over the admission process, the Vice-Chancellor Anu Singh Lather said that setting a timeline for admissions would be difficult for now. The varsity however said that they will initiate classes for their old students from August 1 and will conduct online teaching till the conditions become conducive for blended or mixed learning in the future. She informed that a committee has been formed to look into the options and also to train the faculty in this new mode of teaching.
The VC stated that “these are unprecedented times where higher educational institutions are struggling with the teaching-learning process. And I am pleased to say that AUD is one of the few which carried on teaching during this time and conducted exams and have released their results as well.”
The VC said that the university managed their online classes smoothly. “We did have some issues with students at the far-off places but we resolved it at the school level and assisted them. Our exam system is different from traditional and conservative systems elsewhere. As we have a continuous assessment system, it came in handy where we did all teaching and exams online and completed the process by June 14.”
Announcing the five new programs of BBA, MBA in innovation (with intake of 35 students), MA Hindi (45), MPhil Disability studies (8) and BVoc accounting and finance (75), Lather said that along with the EWS category addition, this would increase the total student intake by over 1800.
Lather added that the university has three plans in their mind over the admission process. “Our ‘plan A’ was to conduct admissions like before; which is no longer possible. Our ‘plan B’ is to change the mode of test to conduct online tests for admissions and ‘plan C’ to give admission on the basis of students’ previous qualifying exams.”
AUD Registrar Nitin Malik added that “for our UG program we will continue giving admissions on the basis of Class 12 marks. But we would give provisional admission based on students’ pre-board results and will keep the window of admissions open till their board exam results come out. The students can send all online which will be verified by our admission committee and students can pay fees online from this year. And for our masters exam we will have an entrance test with an interview.”
One of the courses added this year was MPhil Disability Studies. According to Anita Ghai, professor of School of Human Studies at AUD said that the course will entail theory of disability studies, engaged practices like fieldwork and dissertation and research.
