Uttar Pradesh Lockdown News: The Yogi Adityanath Government in Uttar Pradesh has announced further lockdown in Noida, Ghaziabad, and other parts of the state! In order to check the rise in coronavirus cases in UP, the state government has decided to implement lockdown on weekends (Saturday and Sunday), Additional Chief Secretary, Home, and Information, Awanish Awasthi was quoted as saying by PTI. Apart from this, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to carry out special cleanliness drive in all markets on weekends. Earlier, the state government had announced a 55-hour lockdown in Noida and other parts from July 10 night to July 13 early morning.
Uttar Pradesh Principal Health Secretary Amit Mohan Prasad had said that the state government has raised the penalty amount for not wearing face masks in public from Rs 100 to Rs 500. Meanwhile, the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration has warned that a fine of Rs 500 will be slapped each time for non-compliance if people are found without face cover or masks outdoors in Noida and Greater Noida.
Major cities in Uttar Pradesh viz., Lucknow, Noida, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Moradabad etc., had a deserted look on the first day of lockdown in Uttar Pradesh. The UP state govt had imposed lockdown in the state from 10 pm on July 10th to 5 am on July 13th. All offices, markets and commercial establishments to remain closed, essential services allowed.
Uttar Pradesh Lockdown: What’s open and what is closed
Lockdown in Uttar Pradesh will be enforced during weekends. This means that during Saturday and Sunday, lockdown-like curbs will be put in place. During the last lockdown which ended on Monday morning, Uttar Pradesh government had issued guidelines.
– All offices, rural and urban mandis, markets and commercial establishments remained closed during the lockdown.
– All essential services, health and medical services remained open like earlier. There was no restriction on the movement of people working for essential services, corona warriors, doorstep delivery personnel, and cleanliness workers.
– Trains continued to operate. State transport corporations made arrangements for movement of people arriving to the state in trains.
– Apart from the reason mentioned in the above point, UP Roadways buses did not operate during the lockdown.
– Domestic and international flights continued to operate as earlier.
– There was no restriction on the movement of goods carriers. National and state highways remained open. Petrol pumps and dhabas along the highways were open.
– Industrial establishments in rural areas remained open.
– Offices related to essential services remained open.
