VaikoCHENNAI: MDMK chief Vaiko on Monday urged the Tamil Nadu government and the Centre to bring back 326 medical students who have been struck in Kyrgyzstan since the lockdown began.
Stating that 650 students were struck in Kyrgyzstan, Vaiko said, “Recently 324 students landed in Trichy under the Vande Bharat scheme. I request the government to arrange another flight to bring back the remaining students.”
The students are staying in hostels as the college management have advised them not to venture out due to the pandemic.
Vaiko also wanted the government to bring back 47 Tamil Nadu fishermen, who were struck in Iran. “The fishermen are struggling for food and shelter, our governments must take steps to bring them back,” he said.
