HYDERABAD: A city-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) has developed an app that provides real-time information not only on the bed vacancy position in government and private hospitals for treatment of Covid-19, but also help in finding funeral services for Covid-19 victims. Unlike other similar apps, the CO Helper app is updated by about 50 doctors and a dedicated team of workers to help Covid-19 patients get info among other things on ICU and ventilator beds, and paid and free quarantine facilities.
Two software engineers of the NGO, Social Data Initiatives Forum (SDIF), are behind this unique app that can be downloaded from Google Playstore. The techies, Azam Khan and Khalid Saifullah told TOI that the login facility was provided to doctors of various hospitals across the state to update vacant bed positions in real-time. It is the most appropriate one on disseminating information on all Covid-19-related services.
Khalid said the CO Helper app has details of all government and private hospitals accepting Covid-19 patients, total number of beds allotted for patients, and beds available. The app also has details of free and paid oxygen suppliers and novel coronavirus tests centres.
"The data is daily updated on the website (http://coronahelper.in) and app by five full-time employees and 50 plus doctors of Hyderabad. This app covers info from as many as 84 service providers, including hospitals and pharmacies. We are not associated with any hospital. This is only a service to help patients and their relatives to find requirements in this chaos situation," Khalid said.
Details like names of hospitals, location, capacity, telephone numbers, available beds and last updated status are available, One can also find info on oxygen suppliers, corona tests, ventilator beds, ICU beds, corona pharmacy, free and paid isolation centres, funeral services and ambulances.
Azam Khan and Khalid Saifullah had earlier developed several apps that helped in the provision of free ration to migrant labour at the doorsteps, and the dangers of losing citizenship by a vast majority of people in case of NRC.
