BMC report suggests 32 fatalities due to co-morbidity in the last 48 hours

Mumbai: The surge in positive cases for the novel Coronavirus in Mumbai has led to the doubling rate reaching 50 days now. The recovery rates remain at 69 per cent. Till date, a total of 91,745 people have been affected by the virus so far in Mumbai. 63,431 people out of the total count have recovered from the disease or have been discharged from the hospital and 5,244 people have succumbed to the infections caused by the virus.

The data provided by the state health department suggests that over a thousand new cases are being reported daily. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) shared a report on social media stating that 39 deaths have been reported in the last two days and 32 out of all the fatalities had co-morbidity. 25 of them were males and the rest were females.

Amongst the patients who lost their lives, 3 were in their 40s, 26 patients were above 60 and 10 were between 40 to 60 years. There are 732 active containment zones in Mumbai currently. A total of 6751 buildings are sealed due to the same.

Other neighbouring districts have a rising number of positive cases too, which has led to the reinforcement of the lockdown in Maharashtra till July 31. Thane reportedly has 8,037 cases while Navi Mumbai has 10,516 cases. A neighbouring district with the highest number of cases recorded is Kalyan Dombivli where the count has gone up to 13,832.

People in the state are now being able to get tested easily as prescriptions are no longer required. The number of quarantine health centres has been increased by the state government, aiding the rising need for isolation wards in the city. Authorities have been imposing social distancing norms and examining lockdown regulations thoroughly to break the chain of the virus.
