Kochi:
The accused in gold smuggling case, Swapna Suresh and Sandeep Nair were brought to National Investigation Agency (NIA) office here after completing medical check-up and collecting fluid samples for COVID tests in Aluva taluk hospital on Sunday.
After a round of interrogation at the state agency office, they will be produced before the NIA special court.
The duo were brought to Kerala from Bengaluru through road and shifted to another vehicle after the NIA vehicle sustained puncture after passing Alathur.
The NIA team was escorting in a convoy of three vehicles and when it entered Kerala, the state police also escorted the vehicle on Sunday morning.
Meanwhile, the opposition party activists appreciated NIA for arresting culprits and protested against the government. Yuva Morcha workers tried to block the NIA convoy at Aluva and the journey was delayed for some time.
The Congress supporters staged protests at Walayar, Paliyekkara, Chalakudy and Koratty. The NIA convoy travelled through another route in order to avoid the protesters in Paliyekkara.
