Havaldar quarantines himself on farmland in Karnataka

The 37-y ear-old Army man came home in Khandenahalli village on vacation from Jhansi
DAVANAGERE: Havaldar Yogesh DM, who returned home to Hiriyur in Chitradurga district from UP on July 5, has quarantined himself in a tent on agricultural land to reassure villagers and to create awareness about the need for social distancing to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The 37-y ear-old Army man came home in Khandenahalli village on vacation from Jhansi. Though his aged mother, wife and two kids were keen to have him home, Yogesh has stayed put in the field, about 1.5km from his house. "I get food from home every day and my friends and well-wishers speak to me from a distance," he said. "Besides, I also enjoy working in the field where we're growing gherkins."
Yogesh's throat swab will be collected on Sunday and sent for test. "I will remain in this tent till I get a Covid-negative report," he said. "I am thankful to panchayat members, health workers and doctors for their regular visits," he said.
