Town police station will remain open for public: PI

Panaji: Panaji police station in-charge police inspector Sudesh Naik, on Sunday, said that Panaji town police station and Goa Police headquarters will remain open for  the members of public, and added that the whole building, housing traffic cell, police control room and women’s police cell have been sanitised with the help of Goa Fire & Emergency Service personnel.

The sweeper at the police headquarters, who hails from Sada, Vasco, was suddenly taken ill on Tuesday, and her throat swab sample was taken on Thursday for testing but the report was declared on Saturday. She has tested positive for COVID 19, informed Naik.

Immediately, all the staffers comprising police personnel and other clerical staff on duty were sent for COVID testing on Saturday to North Goa District Hospital, Mapusa, and their test reports are awaited, he added.

On Sunday, Goa Fire & Emergency Services tender was summoned to the Goa Police headquarters and the whole building, housing SDPO office, DGP’s office, DIG’s office, SP headquarters,  Panaji town police station, traffic police cell, women’s police cell and police control room  besides barracks were completely sanitised, the police inspector informed.

The whole sanitization exercise was carried out under the supervision of police inspector attached to the police headquarters Nelson Albuquerque.
