Uttar Pradesh: Covid-19 tally above 35,000, testing crosses 11 lakh mark

LUCKNOW: The coronavirus tally for Uttar Pradesh crossed the 35,000 mark with 1,403 fresh cases in the past 24 hours. The state also recorded 24 deaths and 893 recoveries.
Of the 25 new deaths, five were reported from Kanpur, while three were found in Meerut. Gautam Budh Nagar, Mathura, Fatehpur and Prayagraj accounted for two deaths each, while one death each was reported from Lucknow, Moradabad, Varanasi, Siddhartnagar, Ayodhya, Gorakhpur, Bareilly, Etawah and Jhansi.
Additional chief secretary, health and family welfare, Amit Mohan Prasad said that the number of active infections in the state was 11,490. He also said that the past 24 hours saw a record 902 people getting discharged, taking the total of those recovered to 22,689.
While Lucknow accounted for maximum cases in the day with 202 entries, districts in the national capital region followed next with Ghaziabad reporting 147 cases followed by Gautam Budh Nagar where 89 new cases were recorded.
Meerut division districts including Meerut (31), Hapur (64), Bulandshahr (16) and Baghpat (9), besides NCR cities accounted for 27% of the total cases, while Jhansi (62), Kanpur (57), Gorakhpur (57), Prayagraj (53), Ayodhya (40), Varanasi (39), Mau (39), Ballia (34) and Bareilly (31) listed more than 30 cases each.
The other districts with double digit entries included: Kannauj (29), Sant Kabir Nagar (25), Sambhal (23), Mirzapur (20), Mathura (19), Jaunpur (18), Aligarh (18), Saharanpur (17), Moradabad (17), Amroha (16), Basti (15), Barabanki (15), Agra (13), Maharajganj (12), Chandauli (11), Shahjahanpur (10), Bijnor (10), Muzaffarnagar (10) and Lalitpur (10).
