Mumbai police warn citizens defying night curfew

With increasing traffic, particular at night, Mumbai Police warned citizens of stern action if they are found defying curfew, except for emergency services. Mumbai Police tweeted that despite curfew between 9pm-5am, many vehicles were venturing out for "non-emergency/ non-essential reasons".
They said they would book those moving around under IPC and confiscate the vehicles. Police said due to Covid-19, Section 144 of CrPC and night curfew were imposed and people should follow rules. Police had seized around 16,000 vehicles for violating travel restrictions amid lockdown on June 30, following a government directive.
