Officers of the MC have been asked to install grilles and maintain the park as well as the statue and Rs 7 lak...Read MorePANCHKULA: The Panchkula municipal corporation (MC) has renamed the Sector 2 roundabout as Shaheed Major Sandeep Sankhla chowk.
Haryana assembly apeaker Gian Chand Gupta directed the officials of the MC to complete all the formalities after unveiling the statue of the martyr.
He said, “India is a land of heroes and soldiers make supreme sacrifice to protect our motherland. The country will always be indebted to such lovers of the nation.”
Gian Chand Gupta spoke to the parents of the martyr after unveiling the statue of Ashok Chakra winner martyr Major Sandeep Sankhla. He laid a wreath on the martyr’s statue and paid homage. The speaker took blessings from the martyr’s father Colonel J S Kanwar and mother Manju Kanwar.
On the occasion, deputy commissioner (DC) M K Ahuja and deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Mohit Handa and several senior officials also placed a wreath at the martyr’s statue.
Gian Chand Gupta said till now only a park was constructed, but now the statue of the martyr of Major Sandeep Sankhla has been installed. He also instructed the officers of the MC to install grills and a proper gardening around the statue of the martyr. An amount of Rs 7 lakh will be spent on the work.
Rs 14 lakh was spent on the work of statue, footpath, hut, gardening in this park. He said the government has given full respect to the martyrs. Apart from this, many public welfare schemes are also being implemented for their dependents and they are being honored by giving benefits of various schemes.
On this occasion, MC commissioner Mahavir Kaushik, Brigadier Kiran Krishna Jaiswal, Prof P S Sanga, Colonel Sablok, Prof Kansra, Colonel Ramesh Kanwar, Colonel Babarwal, joint commissioner of MC Sanyam Garg, executive officer MC Jarnail Singh, naib tehsildar Ishwar Singh, BJP district president Deepak Sharma, general secretary Harendra Malik, media incharge Naveen Garg and many other dignitaries paid tributes to the martyr.
