Separatist leader Ashraf Sehrai arrested in Srinagar

Separatist leader Ashraf Sehrai was arrested from his residence in Srinagar by the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police on Sunday. Sources have said that Ashraf Sehrai has been booked under PSA.

Separatist leader and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat chairman Ashraf Sehrai was arrested from his residence in Srinagar by the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Police on Sunday.

Sources have told India Today TV that Ashraf Sehrai has been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA). The development has come a day before Kashmir Martyrs' Day (Shuhada-e-Kashmir).

In May 2020, Ashraf Sehrai's son Junaid Sehrai was killed in an encounter in Srinagar. Junaid Sehrai was the divisional commander of Hizbul Mujahideen and was looking after central Kashmir area.

"He was wanted in multiple cases," Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh said.
