In new posts on Twitter on Sunday evening, Abhishek Bachchan said that his wife, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and their daughter Aaradhya tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Abhishek tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Saturday and was admitted to the Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai. As had his father, megastar Amitabh Bachchan.

Both Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan were hospitalised on Saturday night and are responding well to treatment, hospital sources told India Today Television on Sunday evening.

Abhishek, in his tweet, also mentioned that Aishwarya and Aaradhya are in home-quarantine at their Mumbai residence. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been informed about the current situation and is doing the needful.

Adding that his mother, veteran actress Jaya Bachchan and the rest of his family members tested negative for the novel coronavirus, Abhishek thanked his fans and followers for their wishes and prayers.

"Aishwarya and Aaradhya have also tested Covid-19 positive. They will be self quarantining at home. The BMC has been updated of their situation and are doing the needful. The rest of the family including my mother have tested negative. Thank you all for your wishes and prayers," Abhishek said in his tweet.

In a separate tweet, Abhishek added that he is still in the hospital as is his father until doctors suggest otherwise. Also, he urged citizens to stay safe and abide by the rules and regulations in order to prevent the transmission of the virus.

"My father and I remain in hospital till the doctors decide otherwise. Everyone please remain cautious and safe. Please follow all rules," he added.

Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek informed fans and followers about their test results on social media on Saturday.

In the meantime, Nanavati Hospital sources told India Today Television on Sunday evening that both Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek are responding very well to the treatment. Abhishek had mild symptoms while Amitabh Bachchan was experiencing difficulty in breathing while walking.

Both actors are at the special isolation ward of the hospital. Inspection is being carried out by the doctors every hour.

Sources also said that another coronavirus test will not be done today since the Bachchans are responding well to treatment. However, a test is likely to be conducted on the actors tomorrow.

Workwise, Amitabh Bachchan was last seen in Shoojit Sircar's comedy-drama Gulabo Sitabo co-starring Ayushmann Khurrana. The film released on Amazon Prime Video in June this year. Abhishek Bachchan's debut web series Breathe: Into The Shadows released on Amazon Prime Video on July 10.
