MUMBAI: A constable attached to local arms division and his wife have been booked by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in a disproportionate assets case, with 130% more than his known income.
Abdul Salam Yusuf Shaikh (52) and Ayesha were booked under sections of Prevention of Corruption Act. He is the second city policemen to be booked in such a case this year. Sixty-nine from the state have been booked on charges of corruption and the department has the dubious ranks as the second most corrupt after revenue.
ACB said Shaikh, who joined as a constable in 1995, in 20 years (till 2012) had assets of nearly Rs 34 lakh, in his and his wife's names. An ACB official said Shaikh was then with Antop Hill station.
