85 new COVID cases in state

Panaji: The state on Sunday recorded 85 new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic, taking  the total number of active COVID cases to  952.

The bulletin issued by the directorate of health services said that  59 COVID patients have defeated the disease in the last 24 hours.

Goa has seen  2453  confirmed cases of COVID-19; of which 952 are active and 1,487 persons have recovered from the disease.

The deadly virus has claimed 14 lives in the state.

Out of 5008 samples tested in the last 24 hours, 2328 tested  negative, 85  samples tested positive for the virus, while  reports of 2595 samples are still awaited.

The DHS bulletin said the 952 active cases comprised of 123 persons who travelled to the state from other states either by road, rail or air;  76 persons from Mangor Hill and  294 cases are linked  to the Mangor Hill outbreak.

Loutolim has  31 active cases,  Indira Nagar Chimbel (27), Nerul (23), Valpoi (22) and Dharbandora (20).

The active cases are also from  Curtorim (2), Margao (9), Quepem (17), Navelim (6), Ganga Nagar  Mapusa (7), Sankhali (36), Camara Bhat  (6), Canacona (9), Fatorda (4),  Curca/Shankarwadi (4),  Raia (3), Kundaim (1), Verna (8), Moti Dongor (7) and Ponda (40).

The other locations of the active cases are Marcel (5),  Usgao (5), Bicholim (8), Shiroda 17, Pernem (11), Pilar (4), Goa Velha (6),  Betki (42), Sanguem (4), Cortalim (6), Curchorem (2), Mandur (9), Porvorim (5), Cuncolim (12), Vaddem  Vasco (1), Candolim (1), Khorlim Mapusa (4), Caramboli (5), Parra Mapusa (1), Marcaim (3), Benaulim (2), Batim (3)  and Neura (7).

The villages/locations where   isolated cases are reported include  Nuvem (1), Agassaim (1), Caranzalem (1), Mardol (1), Majorda (1), Thivim (1), Cujira-Santa Cruz (1), Betalbatim (1), Bambolim (1), Corlim (1), Chinchinim (1), Khumbharjua (1), Benaulim (2), Colva (1) and Karaswada (1).

The major  locations from where cases are surfacing  include  Sada-Vasco (88), Baina (110), Curtorim (32), New Vaddem (83), Chimbel (63), Zuarinagar (146), Morlem (22), Khariwada (52)  and Balli (38 cases. 

Twenty-eight COVID patients are in isolation wards  of COVID care centres, while  89 people have been put under  quarantine at various residencies  and hotels.
