Nepal landslide sweeps 8 houses, 11 missing; Army on standby
At least 11 people were missing after a massive landslide triggered by incessant rainfall swept away eight houses in Nepal's eastern Sankhuwasabha district, officials said on Sunday.
Landslides and floods triggered by the heavy rainfall washed away the houses in Besinda village of Sisuwakhola on Sunday morning, The Himalayan Times reported.

Ficci survey estimates FY21 GDP growth to be in negative territory
Industry body Ficci on Sunday said its Economic Outlook Survey has projected the country's annual median GDP growth for 2020-21 at (-) 4.5 per cent.
With the rapid spread of COVID-19 pandemic manifesting into an economic and healthcare crisis globally, the latest forecast marks a sharp downward revision from the growth estimate of 5.5 per cent reported in the January 2020 survey, it said.
The pandemic outbreak has severely impacted the economic activities as the country had to go through a lockdown to check spread of the virus. However, the restrictions are being gradually eased.

Partial lockdown in Srinagar to combat covid-19; over 60 containment zones designated
Authorities on Sunday ordered a partial lockdown in Srinagar by designating over 60 containment zones amid a surge in coronavirus cases over the past week, officials said.
The lockdown will be imposed in 68 containment zones of the city from Monday and no movement would be allowed in these areas without permission, they said.

Life insurance sector witnesses 18.6% drop in first-year premium: CARE Ratings
Hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, the life insurance sector witnessed an 18.6 per cent drop in the first year premium to Rs 49,335 crore in the April-June quarter of the current financial year, according to a report by CARE Ratings.
The overall sum assured also declined 12.9 per cent to Rs 8.8 lakh crore in the June 2020 quarter, compared with Rs 10 lakh crore (which was an increase of 17.6 per cent) in the corresponding period of the previous year.

FPIs pull out Rs 2,867 crore in July so far
Foreign portfolio investors (FPI) have pulled out Rs 2,867 crore from Indian markets in July so far, mainly on account of profit booking after surge in Indian equities.
The overseas investors pulled out a net Rs 2,210 crore from equities and Rs 657 crore from debt segment, taking the total net outflow to Rs 2,867 crore between July 1-10, according to the depositories data.
The latest withdrawal has come after investment of Rs 24,053 crore by FPIs in domestic markets in June.

Rajasthan Minister Vishvendra says visiting Delhi for personal matter
Amid reports that the Congress was faced with a crisis over the survival of its government in Rajasthan, state Tourism Minister Vishvendra Singh on Sunday said he was visiting Delhi over a personal matter.

Even as the opposition Congress grappled with an intra-party crisis to save its government in Rajasthan, silence loomed over party interim President Sonia Gandhi's residence at 10 Janpath on Sunday as no senior Congress leader had arrived to discuss the matter.
According to party sources, Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot had arrived in Delhi on Saturday evening to meet the party high command and had sought a meeting with Sonia Gandhi.
The sources said that at least 25 MLAs said to be from Pilot's camp are staying put in NCR-Delhi region at various places. On the other hand, the Ashok Gehlot camp claims support of 103 MLAs.

Taiwan would welcome a visit by exiled Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, its foreign ministry has said, adding that any invitation would be handled under "relevant rules" if a request to visit is received, reported Radio Free Asia, a US-funded international broadcasting corporation.
The Dalai Lama is "welcome to come to Taiwan again to propagate the Buddhist teachings," foreign ministry spokeswoman Joanne Ou said on Monday, adding that an application by the Dalai Lama to visit would be handled "in accordance with the principle of mutual respect and at a time of convenience for both sides."
