MOHALI: A local court here on Friday dismissed the interim bail of former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini, granted in anticipation of addition of murder charges to an FIR filed against him over the alleged disappearance of Balwant Singh Multani, terming it as pre-mature.
However, giving relief to the former DGP, the court directed the police to give three days’ prior notice to him, in case Section 302 (murder) of the IPC or any other criminal section is added to the FIR.
The orders were pronounced by the court of additional district and sessions judge Rajnish Garg, after the case proceedings were transferred to the said court from the previous court of ADJ Monika Goyal. Palwinder Singh Multani, brother of Balwant and complainant in the case, had sought the transfer of case from the ADJ’s court to any other court, as he found the trial unfair and biased.
