UDUPI: NSUI
Udupi district demanded the cancellation of final year university examinations and the promotion of all the students.
Christan D’Almeida, president, NSUI, Udupi district stated that, as corona cases have been increasing rapidly, any exam in this crisis will be unfair for the student community be it online or offline.
“In
Karnataka, no assembly proceedings are on, theatres are not opened, limited people can attend weddings, no mass gatherings, but the government wants innocent students to come and answer exams? That’s so unfair. Offices are not working with full strength and UGC wants to experiment on the lives of students just for their hidden motives, “he said.
As we welcome the state’s decision to promote the first and second-year students, we want the government to promote final year students based on past performance with an additional 10% marks, since it is observed that students improve their performance in the final year.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday demanded cancellation of university exams and urged the UGC to promote students based on past performance during the
coronavirus pandemic, he said.
Acting on the call given by the NSUI and Congress party, the Udupi District unit has also started #SpeakUpForStudents social media campaign where students of the district are in favour of cancelling final year examination, he added.
