5 reality shows to watch on Netflix for your next drama binge

Weddings, motherhood, or plain old partying—there's a reality TV series about almost everything

They are loud. They are controversial. They are hilarious. They are obnoxious. Sometimes, they're even inspiring. You can love them or you can loathe them, but you simply cannot ignore them—we're talking about the drama-packed reality shows that have been around for more than a decade. Reality shows offer entertainment that helps us escape our own realities, and, thus, are the perfect diversion one needs during this pandemic that has locked us in our houses. Now, there are different types of reality shows, so we've curated a list of the ones that would inspire creativity and still help you stay occupied once the children have been tucked in and you're ready to pour yourself a glass of wine.

Yummy Mummies

Young mothers, this one is for you. Yummy Mummies showcases Australia's hottest mums-to-be as they discover the joys of pregnancy and the difficulties of giving birth. All while looking stylish, hosting extravagant baby showers, being Instagram influencers, and booking modelling jobs for their toddlers (the competition is on for these tots).

Keeping Up With the Kardashians

This mother of all reality shows and well into its eighteenth season, Keeping Up With The Kardashians will keep you reaching for more. The show, which follows the lives of the members of the Kardashian and Jenner clans, offers an addictive insight into the lives of people who are famous for being famous. Start watching it for Kim but don't blame us if you keep watching for Dapper Don Disick.

Love is Blind

Here's a concept that was inspired by the subcontinent's traditional arranged marriage. Netflix's Love is Blind has carefully chosen singles from across America and brought them together on blind dates. Why is this inspired by arranged marriages, you ask? Well, these singles have to go on literal blind dates (they talk with a screen separating them) before they decide if they want to spend the rest of their lives together. It is only after that, that these singles meet and learn more about each other. With a wedding date set, they must learn as much as they can about their chosen partner so they can walk down the aisle to say 'I do'.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta

The show that gave us the realness that NeNe Leakes is, deserves to be binge-watched over a weekend. The Real Housewives of Atlanta focuses on the affluent lifestyles of the rich in Atlanta (often dubbed as the Mecca for wealthy African Americans), while they deal with starting their own fashion lines, renovating homes, bringing up children, and love affairs.

Say I Do

Who says you need years to plan a wedding? Say I Do on Netflix tramples every stereotype about weddings, bridezillas, dress-fittings and last-minute drama. It is a series that will show you how classy weddings take place on short notice and still be beautiful as ever. So, here's a wedding reality show that actually celebrates marriage, love and happiness; and not just, well, a wedding.
