NOIDA: A 26-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide late Thursday night in Chotpur colony of Phase III over a prolonged dispute with her husband who had an extra marital relationship with a woman.
The family of the woman alleged that Sonam who got married around eight years back was being tortured by the husband who had an extra marital relationship with a woman.
Jagvir Kumar, an auto driver who got married to Sonam in February 2012, allegedly had a fight with his wife on Thursday, over his involvement with another woman.
According to Sonam’s brother Sonu, Jagvir and Sonam’s relationship was never a happy one as in 2014, he first had an affair with a woman.
“They used to have fights as my sister would object to the relationship. When the elders of the family intervened, he improved for some time but later, got involved with another woman in 2016. However, my sister caught him and found out that he had been going around with that woman in hotels. She found out their pictures in objectionable position. He used to mentally torture her and beat her up. My sister compromised and tried to save the relationship but to no avail. Since her mother-in-law and sister-in-law too would trouble her, in 2013 we helped them get separated in our house in Chotpur colony where they started staying,” he said.
However, Jagvir failed to change his behaviour and in 2018, Sonam’s family made one last attempt towards reconciliation. “His parents were called and his pictures shown to them too. However, they supported him instead and my sister found out that her sister-in-law had put videos of Jagvir and the other woman on Tik Tok in May,” he alleged.
Since the past four days, they had been fighting a lot.
Sonu said that they had helped Jagvir buy an auto for which, he hired a driver. However, someone recently died in an accident with that auto resulting in Jagvir too being questioned by police since that driver did not have a license and the vehicle was registered in Jagvir’s name.
“He got involved in the case and asked my sister to get Rs. one lakh. My sister told him that we did not have so much of money at this time which led to a serious fight, My sister would call up my father and cry. On Friday, we got to know that she was found hanging,” he said.
However, police said that the post mortem report of the woman has said that she died of hanging making the police conclude that it was a suicide.
The family has given a complaint against the man but police is yet to lodge an FIR.
DCP (central Noida) Harish Chander told TOI that action will be taken against the accused if a complaint is received.
Sonu however said Phase III police has promised to give them a receiving of their complaint only on Saturday.
