AHMEDABAD: In a first, the state reached 10,000-plus active cases of Covid-19 with 10,308 on Saturday evening. Gujarat now has 25% of the total cases as active cases – taking treatment either at hospital setting or at their homes. Share of discharged and deceased patients is now at 70% and 5% respectively.
Gujarat in 24 hours ending 5 pm on Saturday added 872 positive cases, taking the state tally to 41,027. It was for the first time in July that the state did not record a new high daily tally. Surat remained at top with 270 cases, followed by 178 from Ahmedabad, 72 from Vadodara and 49 from Bhavnagar.

Covid-19 positive patients in 24 hours, taking the toll to 2,034. The deaths include four from Ahmedabad, three from Surat and one each from
Dahod,
Kutch and Patan. It was the lowest daily toll for Gujarat and Ahmedabad in 77 days.
A total of 502 patients got discharged in 24 hours, taking the total to 28,685. The discharges include 136 from Surat, 126 from Ahmedabad and 68 from Vadodara.
With the update on Saturday, only six districts have less than 100 total Covid-19 positive cases. So far, 14 districts have recorded 10 or more deaths of Covid-19 positive patients. Share of districts other than Ahmedabad, Surat and Vadodara in Saturday’s tally was 40%. The three districts cumulatively account for 81.6% of the total Covid-19 positive cases so far, signifying rise of viral infection in districts other than the top three districts, said public health experts.
Gujarat carried out 7,717 tests in 24 hours to find new Covid-19 positive cases, taking the total to 4.57 lakh. As on Saturday evening, Gujarat has 3.16 lakh persons under quarantine, out of which 3.13 lakh are under home quarantine.
