Getting people to follow the law has become a challenging task during the time of the Kovid-19 epidemic. In the first two months of the lockdown, policemen took to the streets to ensure that people followed the rules of social distance.
Apart from this, police personnel was seen feeding and helping the homeless and migrant laborers. On the other hand, there were some policemen who were engaged in making face masks in the police station.
Now the rules of lockdown are gradually being relaxed and criminals to have started coming out to commit the crime. Therefore, the police have also come up with the idea of 'virtual interrogation' (virtual interrogation) to interrogate these criminals and to keep as much distance as possible from them. The culprits are being interrogated through video conferencing. Senior officials are also interrogating the criminals through video links.
Delhi Police officials say they have adopted virtual interrogation in almost all cases except a few. Senior officials said the idea is working very well, as top officials are no longer dependent on juniors to interrogate criminals. They can interrogate the culprit at one click from their office.
It all started last month when 11 policemen were found infected with Kovid-19 in the Anand Parbat area of central Delhi. During a virtual meeting of senior police headquarters and district police chiefs, an officer informed his superiors that all these policemen had become infected by a 37-year-old man. The person had committed suicide and all of them reached the spot, due to which they got infected.
The top officials then decided that since they are already holding law and order meetings through video conference, they can also digitally question the suspects and witnesses.
Joint Commissioner of Police (Central Range) Suvashish Chaudhary said that virtual interrogation is providing many benefits and it is working well. He said that this helps in saving time as well as social distance. Many times we all come together and do a virtual interrogation of the criminal.
