CHENNAI: InKo Centre, in association with the Indian Art Museum in Seoul, Korea, will release ‘Emerging Canvas: an e-compendium’, which features 132 emerging artists from India and Korea whose works were showcased over six editions of curated exhibitions, held in Chennai and Seoul from 2012 to 2019.
‘Emerging Canvas’ is an annual exhibition series, presented in India and Korea, in association with the Indian Art Museum in Seoul, to showcase the work of upcoming talented, young artists from both countries.
The series, which commenced in 2012, was initiated by the InKo Centre, in association with The Indian Art Museum in Korea, to identify and celebrate emerging young talent from both countries.
Each carefully curated edition of the series presented 22 artists – 11 each from each country - at exhibitions presented by InKo Centre And the Indian Art Museum in Seoul and in Chennai, every alternate year, respectively. This e-compendium pays tribute to 132 talented artists.
The Korean section of the series was curated by the Indian Art Museum under the stewardship of Kim Yang-shik who, over the past four decades, has dedicated herself to the promotion of Indian art and culture in general and of Rabindranath Tagore's work and philosophy, in particular, in Korea.
The Indian section has been carefully curated for InKo Centre by independent curator, Vaishnavi Ramanathan, who has captured the wealth of emerging talent across India.
The e-compendium will be released on July 16 at 6pm. To view, log on to www.inkocentre.org/Virtual_Connect_Infotainment.html
