Two die in road accident near Chennai

CHENNAI: Two men died and another man suffered injuries when a minitruck they were travelling in rammed the rear of a truck parked on the roadside of the Chennai-Trichy National Highway near Madurantakam in the early hours of Saturday.
The deceased have been identified as Masilamani, 30, and Arun Kumar, 25. Anand, 32, who suffered injuries in the accident was admitted to Changalpet Government Hospital. All of them were residents of Tiruvallur, police said.
The truck was carrying iron rods from Chennai to southern districts. “Due to heavy rain, truck driver parked the vehicle on the roadside and slept. Around 4am, the minitruck carrying goods from Chennai rammed the rear of the stationary truck, killing two men and injuring another,” said a police officer.
The Acharapakkam police registered a case and further investigations were on.
